Washington County Regional Medical Center is delighted to welcome Dr. Steve King to our team as our new orthopedic surgeon. “Bringing Dr. King onboard is the next of many great strides WCRMC is taking to bring comprehensive and accessible healthcare to our community,” states Pam Stewart, CEO of Washington County Regional Medical Center. Dr. King joins WCRMC after 20 years of practice at AdventHealth in northwest Georgia. He brings a wealth of experience in orthopedic care including total joint reconstruction.
Beginning in February, Dr. King will be available for office consultations and routine surgical procedures. Following planned upgrades to our operating room, WCRMC will expand the offerings to include total joint replacement surgeries. This advancement, coupled with the opening of our new emergency department and our existing range of services, positions WCRMC to truly set itself apart as a regional hospital offering specialized care close to home.
Dr. King graduated from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency at University of Tennessee – Chattanooga. He is active in orthopedic advocacy and advancement groups, serving as a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He served as the chief of surgery for Gordon Hospital for 6 years, during which time he led efforts to bring state of the art orthopedic care to the local community. These advanced procedures include anterior hip replacement surgery, robotic total knee replacement, advanced fracture care with locked plating techniques, all inside arthroscopic ACL reconstruction, and advanced shoulder care including reverse shoulder arthroplasty. Dr King is committed to bringing the same level of orthopedic care to Washington County. In addition to his professional service, Dr. King has been an active and engaged member of the Calhoun community, having served on the Gordon County School board since 2021, as well as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Calhoun.
Dr. King has been married to Debbie King for 29 years and has two grown children: Ben, who is married to Mary James Wright of Sandersville, and Emma, who is engaged to Davis Bush of Savannah. Dr. King is overjoyed by the opportunity to escape corporate medicine and refocus on patient care in a local community hospital.
Dr. King will open his practice alongside Dr. Gatliff at the Washington County Surgery Center at 528 Washington Avenue in Sandersville. He may be reached at sking@wcrmc.com or 478.240.2070.
