New Emergency Department: Now Open

For more than 60 years, Washington County Regional Medical Center has been the place this community turns to when it matters most. The new Emergency Department is the next chapter in that story. At 6,832 square feet, the space is nearly triple the size of the previous department, and it was designed from the ground up with one goal: to get you the care you need, faster and closer to home. This is a milestone for Sandersville and for every family across East Central Georgia who deserves a fully equipped emergency facility right here in their community. We are deeply grateful to GMC Architecture and Engineering for their vision in designing this space, RaLin General Contractors for bringing it to life, and Aletheia Health Partners for their management and oversight of this project from start to finish.

The new ED reflects everything we have learned about what patients and families need in their most vulnerable moments. Designed with both comfort and capability in mind, the space includes features that raise the standard for emergency care in this region.

  • 11 private rooms for dignity and comfort during a stressful time
  • Upgraded trauma room equipped for the full range of emergencies
  • Attached decontamination area
  • Pull-through ambulance bay for faster response times
  • Closer proximity to the helipad for time-sensitive transfers
  • Specialized rooms designed for specific types of patient care
  • Seclusion room built for patient and staff safety
“I’ve worked in a lot of different facilities, and this is the best ER I’ve ever been in.”
-Robert Gatliff, Jr., M.D., WCRMC General Surgeon

Washington County Regional Medical Center is also proud to be a KidsABC collaborator, a recognition that honors our commitment to enhancing the quality of care we provide to children. The new Emergency Department is part of that commitment, designed to serve patients of every age and built on the belief that healthy hometowns start with healthy kids. This is your hospital, and this expansion belongs to this community.
