The Pulmonary Rehabilitation program at Washington County Regional Medical Center is highly effective and designed for the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. The program is physician-directed and provides patients with an individualized treatment plan.
Our team provides patients with diagnostic testing, therapeutic exercises, educational training and outcomes assessment as part of your treatment. Studies have shown that mortality is reduced 40 percent in chronic lung disease when patients start pulmonary rehabilitation within 90 days of their hospital discharge.
After completing the program, people are frequently amazed at how much their breathing and exercise capacity have improved.
Your Pulmonary Rehab Visit
- After your initial assessment and diagnostic testing, we design a personalized care plan for your rehabilitative treatment.
- We limit the number of patients who can attend each session to assure each patient has their own individual therapist.
- Our therapists will guide you through every step with the goal of increasing your independence and improving your health. In addition to your appointments, we will show you therapeutic exercises to use at home in your daily activities.
- Typically, you will be scheduled for three appointments a week for 2-3 hours each, for 8-12 weeks. Your treatment will be evaluated monthly and modified based on your response to the therapies. Attending every scheduled session is important to your success!
- The therapists don’t just help you learn to live with your condition, they actively work to promote your recovery while closely monitoring your progress.
- Active participation in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program will provide you with measurable results by improving your strength, increasing exercise capacity and reducing your shortness of breath.
