Key Orthopedic Surgeries at WCRMC

General Orthopedic Procedures Treating a wide range of bone, joint, and muscle conditions, including fractures, sprains, and dislocations.
Arthroscopic Procedures of the Shoulder and Knee: Minimally invasive techniques for diagnosing and treating joint problems, such as torn ligaments or cartilage damage.
Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release: A minimally invasive surgery to relieve pressure on the median nerve, reducing pain and numbness in the hand and wrist.

Your Surgical Visit

Your provider will schedule your procedure with the Surgical Department. A nurse from Same Day Surgery will contact you to go over your health history, medications, allergies, and prior surgeries. The day before surgery a nurse will call you with your time to arrive the day of surgery. You will also get a call from registration, prior to your procedure, to go over your insurance and financial obligations.

Please bring your current medication list to the hospital.

Leave all of your regular medications at home, unless your physician specifically asks you to bring them.

Arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home after surgery, as you cannot drive yourself or use public transportation alone following anesthesia.

For your safety, have a responsible adult stay with you overnight after surgery.

Money, credit cards, or other valuables should be left at home.

Please remember to bring your insurance cards and photo ID.

Bring inhalers and eye drops if advised, and give them to your nurse upon arrival.

Two adults may accompany a child for outpatient surgery; please do not bring other children.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing and shoes.

Bring protective containers for eyeglasses, contacts, dentures, and prostheses, as these must be removed before surgery. Also, bring your contact solution.

To avoid risk of surgical burns, remove all jewelry and body piercings, including wedding bands and skin piercings.

Do not wear lotion, powder, deodorant, makeup, or alcohol-based hair products.

WCRMC is not responsible for lost or damaged belongings. Please leave valuable items at home; items kept at the bedside are the patient’s responsibility.

Shower or bathe and brush your teeth as usual the morning of surgery. Please swish and spit, do not drink.

Do not smoke after midnight prior to your surgery or procedure.

Breastfeeding mothers should bring their own breast pumps to the hospital.
