Washington County Regional Medical Center Named “Top Medium-Sized Hospital” in Georgia
In its 2016 list of top hospitals, Georgia Trend ranked Washington County Regional Medical Center (WCRMC) as the “#1 Medium-Sized Hospital” in Georgia. This was WCRMC’s second consecutive appearance on the list, jumping up from #6.
“It’s quite an honor to be recognized on this list again. It’s a testament to the level of service our talented team of healthcare professionals continues to provide,” said WCRMC Interim CEO Robert Trimm. “Our physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers work together to offer exceptional care. This recognition is a reflection of that commitment to ensuring every patient receives a high-quality experience.”
Georgia Trend compiled the rankings based on data collected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS measures more than 40 indicators such as how closely a hospital follows best clinical practices, patient experience and value of services. WCRMC’s total performance score propelled it to the top spot.
The full list included facilities throughout the state, divided into four categories: Teaching Hospitals, regardless of the number of patient beds; Large Hospitals (more than 250 patient beds); Medium Hospitals (100-249 beds); and Small Hospitals (less than 100 beds).
WCRMC’s inclusion on the top hospital list represents more than a number – it’s an achievement for the broader community.
“We’re proud to be part of the Washington County community and it’s very important to us that we deliver the best possible care with a hometown family feel,” said Jim Croome, chairman of the Hospital Authority of Washington County. “Citizens can see the value in us being the No. 1-ranked medium-sized hospital. It means that they don’t have to worry about leaving home to get top-notch care. They can count on it right here in Sandersville.”
With a licensed general acute care hospital, on-site extended care facility and 24-hour physician staffed emergency room, WCRMC delivers a wide range of healthcare services. Additionally, residents can take advantage of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient surgery.
